Print Preview looks different than Normal View?

Lori

I am working in Word 2000 and when comparing the layout (number of paragraphs per page, etc.) it differs in the Print Preview (or printed doc) than what the actual document shows when opening it in Word (the Normal View)
?
For instance, if we look at the last page of the document, print previews AND the printed document have text on 3/4 of the page, but when you look at the actual document in Word when opening it up (Normal View), there is only text on 1/4 of the page? Why? Help? Obviously, this will effect the TOC and page numbering etc.

Please help me!

Hi Lori,

Normal View is not WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). It suppresses data in the drawing layer, such as floating graphics, column formatting, page margins, etc.

It's good for typing your document but for formatting and layout you should use View/Print Layout.

To add to Beth's reply, if Lori is still around:

You should be using Word in such a way that *it* generates the page numbers
and the numbers for the TOC, not you--Word will sort out the differences
without you having to worry about it.
