Print Problems w/ Word 2003 Pro: unable to print multiple copies & envelopes

Using MS 2000 Pro w/ MS Ofc 2003 Pro I cannot print multiple copies of
a document: whatever the number selected (ex 5 copies) the printer
shoots 5 blank copies through printer before printing 5 "real" copies.
ALSO: cannot print #10 envelopes: a blank envelope is bypassed through
printer before the next envelope is selected, but halfway into print
process computer faults w/ messasge: "paper mis-match" and printing
stops.
