Print Resource Usage

Can I create a report that mirrors the Resource Usage view, complete with
Resource, Tasks, and Time Scale and Work/Actual Work cells? This would
essentially serve as a time entry form for tasks within a certain time
period. I use MSP 2003 Std.

Hi DJ Huff,

You can show the appropriate information in the Resource Usage view
and then simply print the view. There is a Resource Usage report
available through View > Reports > Assignment as well, but it is, in
my opinion, much easier to set the Resource Usage view as needed and
then just print the view.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks, Julie. Here is what I did:

I set a filter in the Resource Usage view to ask for the resource(s) I would
like to see. I then said File/Print, where you may set the dates to the
range you want to print. That got me the tasks within the time period I
desired and the resources I desired.

I was hoping someone had developed a time entry sheet that could have
bypassed this two-pronged process. Wondered if one of the MSP gurus had
devleoed something like this and made available on their web page, like Jack
Dahlgren.

Without PWA, one has to really use one's creativity to provide something
like a time entry sheet, which one may have expected as part of the stock MSP
package, given entering actuals is a feature of the product.

Thanks for your quick response. I am sure I'll have more "out of the box"
requests and I look forward to your future responses.

Hi DJ,

I'm glad you found the solution (mostly) to your query. If you've
an interest and talent in VBA, I'm sure you could develop an export
process to re-create a view similar to the Resource Usage view in
Excel. If you're interested, I'd suggest buying fellow MVP Rod
Gill's book on VBA. He does detail in his book exporting timephased
data. You can find details about Rod's book at:

Let us know should you have other questions.
