Print to PDF Bug: Default Filename as "Formating Pallete"?

G

Grant Prigge

Everytime i "print to pdf" in Word the default filename shows up as
"formatting Pallete.pdf" - instead of the documents name. I havn't
noticed this in Excel or PP. Anybody with the same issue and any ideas
on how to fix. Thanks, G

You are not alone but only sometimes. I get Word suggesting quite
unconnected filenames names on save-as as well. I had assumed it was a
template misconfiguration and have not bothered trying to track it
down.

It is an irratation I can live with, especially since the names of
documents I exchange with my PC-toting colleagues far exceed the measly
31 characters that v.X allows me.

Both of you may care to check to see what is in your Normal Template.

Word's default is to attempt to use the first few characters of text in the
document as a file name if you haven't specified one.

I believe that when you Print to PDF, Word creates a new blank document to
put the text in while it is re-processing it.

Other than that, I can't think...

Cheers

As a quick update on this issue, I have found that if the Formating
Pallete is open, then the filename will be called..."Formating
Pallete".

That sounds fair, Of course you must have the formatting palette open
with the font disclosure triangle down in order for the keyboard
shortcut for style to work properly.

With software too, there is a fine line between genius and madness.

And that one is called "bug" ... Sorry about that. Blame me: by the time
I found it, it was too late to have it fixed for the release...

Cheers
