print up (veritcle) instend of accross (horizontal) in a table

I am a teacher and want to list dates and homework
assignment on the top row of my table and require some
space to detail assignments. Student names and cells to
check off complete assignments are not problem...I can not
find out how to print "UP" ... ie I want to take this
WORD and be able to type with the letters "rotated up
from right to left"
