Printed Report: "Print All Sheet Columns" Not working

D

Dushan

Need a procedure to print only a specific time period, like August/2008 thru
September 2008.

I have an .mpp file that I am reusing. Problem arose when I wanted to print
a Gantt report that has tasks only in year 2008. Printed report however
starts in 2005 and contains pages and pages of blanks until it gets to 2008.
Looking at instructions of how to eliminate time period 2005-2007 I found
that commands are:
File --> Page Setup --> View --> Disable checkbox for "Print all sheet
columns".

Well that did not work for me. Still I get 4 years of printouts.

Any advise will be welcome.
Thanks,
Dushan

When you click on File / Print, in the Dialogue box which then opens, there
is a Timescale section at the bottom which has an option to specify the start
and end dates required to appear on the printed chart.

Dytham and Richard,
"Timescale" parameter on "Print" window solves the problem, it was not
offered to me because I was using "Print Preview" command and that one does
not offer "Timescale".

Once I did set "Timescale" on the "Print" command, the "Print Preview"
started using the new "Timescale". Too bad "Timescale" was not offered on
"Print Preview" to start with.

Thanks for help.

I was able to get just the 2008 Gantt view out of Project however using
the Analysis toolbar (View, Toolbars, Analysis) and selecting the Copy
Picture to Office Wizard. In the wizard, you can choose the change your
outline level (Step 1 of 4), but it's Step 2 of 4 that gets the results
you're looking for. In the Timescale section, specify 1/1/2008 through
12/31/2008. Step 3 lets you pick the Office application for which a
picture will be generated and you can also preview it there should you
choose to do so.

A timescale option for Page Setup would be a nice touch...;-)

Glad that you're sorted.

No one could accuse Project of being intuitive :)

Works okay for Text reports in 2007. How do I get multiple periods in visual
reports?

Hi Joe,

I don't follow your question. Visual Reports export data to Excel
so it isn't a printing problem. Can you give a bit more information
about your specifics? What Visual report are you working with? And
what specifically is the problem?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Joe,

You can't choose a start and end point for the visual reports. They are as
they stand - ie the whole project is reported on. If that's wha you mean.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
