Printed Watermark

When printing a watermark (ie DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL) on a letter, it shows
fine on the monitor, but when it is printed, only ever other letter shows!
ie D A T or C N I E T A . Very strange. Any idea how this might be
corrected?
