Printer displays "Access Denied" when printing from Word

Hello All:

I am trying to print to a networked HP Office Jet printer from my Dell PC
using Word 2000 SP3. I am connected to an NT domain but logging on locally
and using the cached password/username to access resources in the domain.
As soon as I print a document from Word the printer status as displayed in
the printers folder for the Office Jet switches to "Access Denied". Word
then takes about 20 seconds to complete the background printing job, the job
displays in the print queue and disappears, but the printer never prints the
job.

Excel, Wordpad, and a test page all work fine from this laptop. I have
tried reinstalling the printer driver and turning off background printing
but nothing seems to work.

Any help would be appreciated.
