Printer issues with Word in OS X

B

Benjamin

I am having troubles printing documents from MS Word v. X. I have
tried to run updaters to get beyond the Service Version 1 thing in
Office, but I am not sure they are taking. The problem with the
printer is thus:

I send the file to the printer. It begins to pull the paper into the
printer, but then it goes really slow but picks up speed again an
prints the first page. When it is done with the first page, it keeps
it, the printer does not eject it and the activity light keeps
flashing like it is waiting for new orders. Meanwhile, in the print
center, the statuss bar continues to flicker or pulse (showing
activity) but does not progress accross the remaining 1/8 of the bar.
If I wait long enough, it tells me there are problems with the
communications...

Anybody?

The Printer is an HP Deskjet 812C with HP Invent v 5.3

The computer is a PB G4 running 10.2

Thanks

Hi Benjamin,

First, to determine if your updaters are "taking", navigate to the Word icon
in Finder and so a Get/Show Info (Cmd>i). That's where you'll find the
correct version and build numbers.

As far as the printer problem is concerned, I probably won't be much help
but ...

Check to be sure your printer driver is the most current.

If the printer is not ejecting the first page, it could be a hardware
problem. Check with HP to see if they have any suggestions.

It's also possible that your document(s) are formatted for "Any Printer"
instead of the printer you are using. Close all your documents, open your
Normal Template (Applications> Microsoft Office X> Templates), use Format>
Document> Page Setup and chose the name of your actual printer in Format
For.

Hope something here helps.
