Printer output too big

B

Brian Bagnall

Hi,

I've got an HP Officejet T65 printer. In Word it shows the width of my text
as 4.5 inches, but when I print it out the width measures out to more like 5
inches (just under 5 inches). I'm using the HP Officejet T Series printer
driver.

The strange thing is, if I get it to print directly as a PDF file, it
outputs the file as 5 inches (slightly larger than 5 inches actually).

Anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Hi JoAnn,

I don't think it has to do with Adobe Reader because when I print it
directly from Word onto paper, without doing anythink with Reader, it prints
it much wider than the 4.5 inches it is supposed to - over 5 inches wide.

BTW Sorry for posting to newusers too.

I should have also mentioned, I used to use an HP DJ 920C printer when I was
typing up the documents, and now I use an HP Officejet T65. Theoretically I
can't see that messing up Word, but you never know.

Different printers can make a difference. Which version of Word?

Word 2003. I tried printing the same document on a different computer (the
one hosting the shared HP Officejet T65printer) and now I get 4.75" width -
close, but still not exactly 4.5" as it shows on my screen. I'm thinking
there might be a bug in Word?

Problem solved. My document had "Track Changes" turned on with lots of
changes/comments through the whole document. It somehow made things wider. I
got rid of all the visible changes and comments and it prints out fine now.
Thanks for all your help, JoAnne.
