Printer problem????

Win 98se, Office 2k

This just started.
When printing a Word doc, my HP722c locks up the program and nothing happens
except the top of the screen blinks and does the icon in the taskbar. Have
to Ctrl, Alt, D to get out of program.
So far this is the only program it's doing that in. I've uninstalled and
reinstalled the print driver plus ran detect and repair in Word.
Any suggestions,

L.

Follow-up.

I can print "new" .docs OK. It seems to be already created .docs that giving
me/printer a problem.
Plus I end up with another icon of the same .doc on my desktop or whichever
folder the original .doc is in when I get the program (Word) closed.
Seems other Office program (excel, etc.) print OK.

Word does more rigorous page formatting than the other apps. New
documents will get the default page size. Your problem could be a
conflict between actual page size (driver setting/printer) and document
paper size. If the document requests a nonexistent paper size, drivers
should handle it nicely. Not all of them do.

Try setting the paper size before printing.

Someone else told me that my spooling feature may be messed up. I've
bypassed spooling and go directly to print, same problem ALSO if I open a
..doc and click on "page setup", the same thing happens.

Follow up.
Copied a .doc that was locking the system/program and tried it on another
system with Word and it printed OK.?>!@#?><>

When Word locks-up, just click on the minimize button twice and the blue
stops flashing and the printer setup screen pops up and wverything works.
