printer problems

When I try to print from Word or Excel, the printer icon
appears momentarily in the task bar then disappears, no
print. Drivers checked and correct. Reinstall Office
with anti-virus turned off. Can print from ms-dos prompt
and can print a test page from printer window. Any
ideas? Ted
