Printer Queue Not Cleared

A few of my documents, when finished printing, do not clear the printer job
queue. Consequently, when the computer is sitched off and switched on later,
the printer starts printing the same printer job. Any thoughts where to
switch this off? The O/S is Windows XP and MS Word 2002
