Printer respond msg when opening doc

Whenever I open MS Word I get a pop up box which says: "The printer
has not yet responded, but the MS Office program may be able to
proceed without printer information." I am on XP Pro & Word 2002 and
use a shared printer on another networked PC. How do I eliminate this
printer checking and this message? Thanks
