Printer won't print w/Office 2001

I have a iMac/OS X with Office:Mac 2001 installed. It will
not print to my Epson Stylus 740 Color printer. It worked
fine with my old iMac using system 9.2 whatever. I look
under Chooser and my printer is there, I choose it and yet
I get an error message that the printer is not responding, etc.
I am a principal at an elementary school and I need to
print correspondence.

What driver are you using on the OSX side? I ran into this problem using
GIMP-Print to run my Epson printer in OSX (there is no OSX Epson driver for
this model). GIMP-Print took proprietary control of the printer and it
wouldn't work when I tried using it to print from Classic apps in the
Classic layer. When I removed the GIMP-Print driver from the printer list in
print center and restarted the Mac, I was again able to use the Epson for
Classic apps.

It could also be that the Epson driver (if you have an Epson OSX driver for
the 740) is doing something similar. Try removing it from the OSX Print
Center printer list and see if that helps.
