I use Word 2000.
I am printing to a HP 2840.
My Document is 8.5" by 3.66" in size.
I wish to print 3 of these to each letter size page and then cut them up.
I can't find any option to do this. Does anyone know how?
Thanks
Carol
The US standard Letter paper size is 8.5 inches wide x 11 inches height.
You will need to allow for the printer margins at the top and bottom of each
page.
I have based the following calculations upon the assumption that the top and
bottom margins will both be 0.5 inches. You will also need to allow a space
between each of the "three sections". I have allowed for 0.5 inches at he
top and bottom of each section - but you can set the margins etc., in
accordance with your own preferences.
I assume you will require sufficient space between the three "sections" to
allow for cutting - so your page will need to be divided into the following
sections:
0.50 inches Top margin of paper.
2.66 inches First "section"
0.50 inches Bottom margin of first "section"
0.50 inches Top margin of second "section"
2.66 inches Second "section"
0.50 inches Bottom margin of second "section"
0.50 inches Top margin of third "section"
2.66 inches Third "section"
0.50 inches Bottom margin of paper
10.99 inches Grand Total
If you select different margins and spacings, you will need to adjust my
figures.
Based upon your requirements, I think your best bet would be to create a
Table.
Click on "Table" / "Insert" / "Table". Set the number of columns to one (1)
and the number of rows as seven (7).
Having created the table, select the first row of the table.
Then, click on "Table", followed by "Table Properties", followed by "Row".
Set the height of the first row to 2.33 inches EXACTLY - and untick the box
marked "Allow row to break across pages".
Repeat this step for each subsequent row, setting the heights as 0.5, 0.5,
2.33, 0.5, 0.5, and 2.33 inches, repectively.
Select the entire table. Click on "Table", followed by "Table Properties",
followed by "Column". Set the column width to the exact dimensions that
will be available (after allowing for the left and right printer margins).
The exact width of the column should be 8.5 inches, less the amount of the
left and right printer margins.
Then, select the entire table. Click on "Format", followed by "Borders &
Shading". Set the borders to "none".
You may now insert text etc., in the three main sections of the page. The
page should print as a single document - which can be cut as required.
If you want to insert visible cutting lines, select the two narrow rows
between the first and second sections. Click on "Format", followed by
"Borders & Shading". Insert a border between the rows. Repeat this process
with the two narrow rows between the second and third sections.
