printing a form letter using mail merge

D

dave hanlon

using ME and office 2000, i have created a form letter and
merged an excel worksheet filled with addresses and all
appears to work fine on my screen. then when printing, if
i select print all, only about 10 to 12 of the 60 pages
are printed. when i select to print just one of the
missing pages, nothing happens. if i scroll to a
unprinted page and select print this selection, it will
print, but not by selecting the page number. my printer
is a hp laserjet 6mp and everthing checks ok.

any ideas for me to try?
thanks.

Hi Dave,

On the assumption that you have executed the merge to a new document, and
that document contains all of the pages, then the problem would not be
related to mailmerge. I am not sure what is causing it.

However, each letter produced by executing a mailmerge to a new document is
in a separate Section so that to get a particular page (=Section) to print,
it is necessary to specify the Section number rather than the page number.
This is done by placing an s before the number as in

s2, s5-s7, etc.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the

Hope this helps

Thanks for this reply. This is exactly the situation I ran into today. I wanted to reprint a specific range of pages from my merged document. Word did nothing when I gave it the range of pages to print. Finally I noticed in the status bar that I had one page with many many sections. Unfortunately, at the time I had no idea how to print a range of sections.

Has the Word team simply given up on making Mail Merge usable by the masses? I do about six mail merges a month, and I still have way more troublesome merges than smooth merges.
