Printing a PDF document

Afet installing a PDF writer, the choice of printing to the PDF port or my
paper printer was available ( The printing choices are available in all the
office programs). However, when chosing the PDF port, my Visio 2000 document
still went to my paper printer. If I paste my Visio document into WORD, and
chose the PDF port as my printing choice, it works fine(prints a PDF
document). Uhhhh. Whats up?

I am having the same issue. This problem occurred right after I installed SP2
for Visio 2000. The OS is win2k-SP4

I have Adobe Acrobat 5.0 loaded and working for all other Office products.
Instead of printing to an actual printer, I print to the Adobe Distiller,
which creates a PDF output document of the Visio drawing.

After I installed SP2, all I can print to is the local parallel printer. I
can no longer create a PDF document from a VISIO drawing, nor can I print to
a network printer.

All other Office products were un-effected..ie, I can still create PDF's.

I have not tried to uninstall Visio and re-install.

I am having the same issue. I have VISIO 2000 with SP2 loaded on Win2k-SP4. I
also have Acrobat 5.0 loaded.

The problem appears to have started right after I loaded VISIO SP2. I can
print to the local printer ok.

I can no longer print to Adobe Distiller from VISIO.
I can no longer print to a network (LAN) printer from VISIO.

From other Office products (2000), I CAN print to Local printer, Adobe
Distiller and the network printer.

I have stumbled across a work-around...atleast for me. But first,
here's a link to a reason for the problem.

http://groups.google.com/groups?q=g...selm=PJWqb.102549$275.282897@attbi_s53&rnum=4

Now for my work-around.
On my workstation I have Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and Visio 2000. The OS is
Win2k-SP4. After searching Google, I beleive the problem has to do
with SP-2 for Visio 2000, specifically the GDI+ patch.

For whatever reason, I can only print directly to my local printer,
with the local printer set as the default printer..ie, I cannot change
the output printer while in Visio, I cannot print to the LAN printer
or Adobe Distiller while my local printer is the default printer.

So...for S&G (sh*ts and giggle's)I tried the following which works for
me.
In my printers folder I have several logical printers
- Adobe Distiller
- HP722c(default)
- Network printer
- pdfcreator

If I change the default printer to say Adobe Distiller, then go back
into Visio to print, the Adobe Distiller will run and thereby create a
PDF of the Visio drawing.

Likewise, if I change the default printer to the netwrok printer, I
can now send the drawing to the network printer.

Hope this helps
Don
