Printing along round rectangle

K

klam

I'd like the printing to go around a rounded rectangle (i.e., follow the
border of a rounded rectangle). I've tried a few things but can't get it to
go around so the printing will curve and change directions.

I thought of putting a smaller "invisible" rounded rectangle inside to force
the text to go around it but that hasn't worked either. Would using Word 2003
be better to achieve this?

Thx for any suggestions.

Not in the way you're thinking. Try using WordArt and see if that will do
what you need. You will probably have to break your text up into different
text boxes.

Thx a mint for the reply, JoAnn.

I thought I might be doing things the really hard way. I'm trying it with
text boxes and Word Art, tho this way is cumbersome, tedious and slow. Good
to know this is the only method available.

cheers,
karen

I dont get the chance to offer advise to many, so I thought I would offer you
my way (well, from Mary Sauer's website anyway)

Create wordart, copy, paste special (in edit menu) as windows metafile,
ungroup (in arrange menu), and then position individual letters wherever
needed.

If this works, thanks should go to Mary.

Big Rick, well when you do post it's very helpful - thx a mint!

I used JoAnn's method for my border problem. Tedious for sure but at least I
achieved the desired effect. However, I checked back and just tried your
method to see what else I could learn.

Your/Mary's "trick" is really going to help me as part of the same graphic
is a customized shape that I want to write text inside of. With your method,
it will really help with placement/text distribution - I actually have a hope
of achieving it. Thx for sharing!

cheers,

Hi. Thanks for letting me know that it worked.
As a follow on from your reply, go to Marys' website at

http://msauer.mvps.org/more_graphics.htm

and scoll down to near the bottom to where where it says 'Text inside a
circle'. This method will put ordinary text inside a circle or any shape you
can care to create.
