Printing an Outline

O

OhioRon

I have been using Outline view for preparing presentations since this feature
was first added to MS Word. For Word 2007, I can prepare my outline as
easily as before. When I print the outline, though, it's incomplete. A few
words are missing from the beginning of some lines, a few words are missing
at the end of some lines, and some lines are missing altogether. Most lines
are just fine.

I've tried to find posts describing similar problems, but I can't find
anything that addresses this problem. Can anyone help?

By the way, I tried to save the document in Word 2003 format and print that
version, but it made no difference

More information about this problem: The missing words or missing lines are
always on lines that are word wrapped from the previous line. The FIRST line
of each section is always fine. Subsequent lines might be fine, might have
words missing from the beginning or end of the line, or might be missing
altogether.

Unfortunately, printing the Outline View in Word 2007 is buggy. :-(

Prior to Office 2007 SP1 you could use the Print dialog box to print the
Outline View correctly but this workaround was broken with SP1. So if you
don't have Office 2007 fully patched you can try using the Print dialog box
instead.

Thank you very much. I uninstalled Office 2007 and reinstalled. Everything
is now fine if I use the Print dialog to print the outline. Quick Print
doesn't work.

Now I would like to keep Office 2007 SP1 from installing which I update my
system. For now I have turned off automatic updates, but I'm wondering if
there is a way to hide/suppress just this one update. I went to the
Microsoft Update website and searched for updates, but couldn't figure out a
way to indicate that I don't want to install SP1.

Unless you want to manually install the updates instead of using the
Automatic Updates I don't know of a way. :-(

Manual install for updates, btw, is where you can use the automatic updates
in order to obtain the needed updates and jot them down (but do not actually
install them) and then search the Microsoft Knowledgebase for the updates
and download and install them.

Hi Ron,

If you use http://update.microsoft.com and use the setting to advise you of updates that are available before downloading you can
uncheck the update listed in the offered updates and you should get a prompt asking if you want to be reminded of that update again.

There are multiple, tailored 'flavors' of Office 2007 SP1, so you may get it offered again (same title, differing content). After
Office 2007 Service Pack-1 has been available for 6-months via autoupdate most future updates will likely require that Office SP1 be
in place for the later update to be offered/installed.
