printing anomalies between word 2007 & previous versions???

This is a nightmare! Every time I open any of my earlier version word
documents they appear normal on the monitor (and in print preview) however
when printing any text that is either bold, underlined or within tables or
headers & footers is printed either in box symbols or unreadable varying text
types that bear no resemblence to the original document. I have tried several
documents and attempted to resave in various editions, all with the same
result, I am now resorting to saving my documents in Adobe and printing as a
PDF which is quite a lenghty process. Any help in tis regard would be greatly
appreciated. Cheers.

Did you install Compatibility Pack from MS?

Are you using a style with a font that is not installed?

So, are you saying that the problem is only with earlier documents, and not
with new documents?

What font(s) is/are being used?

Also... open one of the problem documents, and click Office - Word Options -
Advanced. Under Show document content, click Font Substitution. Does is go
to the substitution dialog, or does it say that all fonts are available?
