Printing Autoshapes with embedded text

I have Office:Mac 2008 12.1.4 Installed on a MacBook Pro with Leopard
10.5.5

I have been having problems printing Word or PowerPoint documents that
contain Autoshapes with text embedded into them (right-click on the
Autoshape and select 'add text').

When using print, print preview or save to PDF, the system locks-up?
If you leave it alone (5-6 min on a 2.8GHz MacBook Pro) it eventually
completes, but has serious trouble?

I've tested removing the embedded text and the problem disappears?
Also, if you insert a separate text box, and drag it over the
Autoshape the problem does not occur?

Any ideas as to why the problem exists with 'embedded' text in the
Autoshape?

I have no idea why that would happen.

Several wild speculations based on the hand-offs going on within the various
objects in the document, but no real idea!

Please email me a document that does it, and I will send it in to the Word
development team for a full investigation -- yours is the first report I
have seen of this issue.

Would you please do me a favour and run the Apple System Profiler on your
machine, then include the report it produces (ZIPPED!!!) so we get your
precise software revision levels for everything on that box. This is going
to turn out to be one of those "This won't work with that unless those are
above 10.5.1 and the blue one has patch 11.1.0.5 applied" kind of issues :)

Cheers

I'm not sure I have anything more specific than what John wrote but one
point common to all issues you mention: Have you checked for an updated
printer driver?
