Printing Avery j8651 Labels

I am using a Lexmark 2500 Inkjet printer with Avery j8651 Labels. Using
Tools, Letters and Labels, select Avery j8651, set the label text and a
presto alingnment is awful. I have tried changing to metric ruler but this
don't help. Apart from playing with a custom layout is there something else?
Interestingly changing Font size appears to alter alignment.

I am getting the correct number of labels per sheet its the individual label
alignment which is wrong.

Guess i could drink a few scotches and then it wouldn't feel too bad
