Printing B&W, Colour slides- all legible?

Hi Group

I don't know if this is a tall order, but if someone has some advice
or experience of this, please reply.

Is it possible to create slides that will satisfy the following
criteria

- have a dark backround (i.e navy blue) with legible text (i.e white,
creams, other)
- print in b&w without the backround
- print in colour, without printing the background, but still produce
slides that are legible?

I can satisfy the first 2 criteria, however its the third which
puzzles me.
Is this possible, has someone created something similar?

Atogeniqua,

What type of color printer are you using?
e.g. InkJet / color lazer / thermal transfer / etc ideally a brand name and model.

What fonts are you commonly using?

Which PowerPoint version are you using? In PowerPoint 2002 and 2003 you
could use a template with two masters, one with a dark and one with a light
color scheme and change the master before printing. This will change the
colors only if they are taken from the color scheme, other colors will not
be affected.

Kind regards,
Ute

Hi Atogeniqua,

Just an idea

Create a picture that is navy blue and use it as a background...Now you can
set the picture to do anything you want in b/w such as show in white or
don't show at all...This works in PPT2000 and higher...

Hi TAJ
What type of color printer are you using?

I am using a hp laser jet 3700N and using PP 2000.
What fonts are you commonly using?
Just arial font is used, font sizes 25, 17, 15, 13, 11.

I have done some experimenting and have found some colours that will
display and print in colour on both dark (navy blue) and white
backgrounds.
My main dilemma is text (which there is quite a bit of)

Simon's suggestion is helpful, however, I am creating a template, it
has to be as simple as possible and "dummy proof"

Just to reiterate, I would like to have a dark background for the
screenshow, but when I print to colour, omit the background, and have
legible text.

Thanks for you help.

me
