Printing business cards

Stephe

I've created a business card in Word VX, using Tools, Labels, and the Avery
Standard 8371 template. The main feature of this card is a yellow block
(0.47" x 2.91", with three aqua lines, one at the bottom, one in the middle
and one close to the top of the block. This has been designed to look like
part of a legal pad, with my name in a handwriting font inside. When I
create the cards, they look great on screen and in print preview. But when I
print to my HP psc 1210, only the cards on the right hand side come out the
way they should. The cards on the left hand side are each missing one of the
aqua lines. (I can send a sample file if necessary so you can see what I'm
talking about).

Is this a Word problem or a printer problem? I've tried recreating the whole
thing a few times, but it just doesn't seem to work.

Many thanks

Hi Stephe:

It's a printer driver problem.

Works OK-ish on my HP PSC 2510, but it's not perfect.

Change the thickness of the line and chances are it will work OK. You may
also try changing the print resolution in your HP driver. It may be that
your resolution is set too low.

Cheers

Thanks for the advice - but unfortunately, I'm still not having any luck.
I've tried the latest driver from HP and have also contacted them for
support, but nothing.
However, I did have a brainwave. I saved the completed label file as a pdf,
thinking I could just print it then. But guess what - the problem shows up
in the pdf too. That line is missing on the left hand side. Does this help
towards a diagnosis?

Thanks again.

Found a workaround (but not a solution). I simply switched two of my lines
around and now, for some reason, everything prints okay. Thanks for the help
though.
