Printing Chinese Flash Cards w/ Word

I have created a list of Chinese vocabulary words in a Word table.

I'd like to print these as two-sided flash cards on business card stock
like Avery 5371/8371 with the Chinese character on one side and the
English definition (and a few other things) on the other side. Each
sheet has two columns and five rows of perforated cards. I have an HP
LaserJet 2300dn so duplex printing can be automatic.

Any ideas how to set this up?

Use Tools>Labels...

On odd pages, the labels are:
1 2
3 4
5 6
7 8
9 10

On even pages, the labels are:
2 1
4 3
6 5
8 7
10 9

Thank god you didn't pick sheets with three or four columns :)

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post!

You understand the problem perfectly: On one side, the cards are
printed left-to-right and on the other side the cards are printed
right-to-left in order for the front/back of the cards to have their
corresponding information.

I'm still not understanding exactly how to use my table/list to produce
the cards, however.

Each row of my table contains the Chinese character (which goes on the
front of the card) and the English definition (which goes on the back).

If I use a Mail Merge with Labels as you suggest then the first page
will advance the list ten records with the Chinese character on the
front of the card. But, when the next page prints the English
definitions on the back, it will be printing the definitions for the
the NEXT ten records on the back of the first page. I need a way of
backing up the list by ten records so that the corresponding English
definitions print on the back of the cards.

So, how do I back up the list? And, what do I do about the last page
that may have fewer than ten records? How do I back up a variable
number of records?

This might be easier in Excel. The idea would be to have one table with two
columns, Chinese and English side by side (Source_Table).

Then create another pair of tables in the size and configuration for an
entire page of labels. Make links from the source table to the corresponding
spot of the Chinese or English table so the correct text appears in the
corresponding card area.

Source_Table:

Column A Column B
------------ -------------
Chinese 1 English 1
Chinese 2 English 2
.....
Chinese 10 English 10

Chinese side:
Source_Table:$A$1 Source_Table:$A$2
Source_Table:$A$3 Source_Table:$A$4
....
Source_Table:$A$9 Source_Table:$A$10

English side:
Source_Table:$B$2 Source_Table:$B$1
Source_Table:$B$4 Source_Table:$B$3
....
Source_Table:$B$10 Source_Table:$B$9

Preserve the alternation that John McGhie mentioned.

Now just print the Chinese table on one side and English on the other side,
and voilá, you have your flash cards. Repeat this for each set of ten (or
make it as long as you need as a template).
