Printing differently to whats on the screen

For as long as I can remember, I have been using and printing off the same fax cover sheet that is saved on my computer. I have done nothing to change any of the original settings, e.g bullet points, margins etc. However, just recently, when printing off the sheet, the bullet points turn into symbols, as if I have typed them in the Windings font. I have tried everything to sort this out. The problem also occurs when I try to include a watermark as a background, it appears on the screen, but then does not print out!
It's all getting really frustrating!!!
