Printing EMF

I often create Visio diagrams. These diagrams are saved
in Enhanced Metafile Format (*.emf). These EMF files can
be viewed and printed in any graphics program. The images
print fine on any printer. When these images are imported
into Microsoft Word 2002, there is a problem. Many of the
lines and text within the image are lost in the print
process, eventhough the image appears fine on the screen.
This problem is not printer specific (not a print
driver). Since the image prints fine in other software
packages, the problem must be somewhere in the MS Word
graphic filter / print processor.

Additional Information. All users have the same problem. It is not limited
to just Word 2002, but Word 2000 as well.

Have you tried using the Windows MetaFile (*.wmf) format instead?
Visio's export filters just aren't very good, but you might have
better luck with WMF.

While EMF is MS/Windows' own enhanced (32-bit) version of WMF, support
for it seems less robust.

The extra capabilities of EMF over WMF are generally not that relevant
for graphics such as Visio diagrams.

If needed, our own graphics conversion software package can help you
generate WMF/EMF from formats like EPS and PDF, or convert WMF/EMF to
other formats, such as SVG and CGM.
