Printing Envelopes - clockwise rotation option STILL broken

This bug apparently has been around since Word 97.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/183416

If you create an envelope and have the printer feed option set to "clockwise
rotation", when you actually print the envelope, you will get nothing but a
blank page.
I just installed the latest version of Office 2010 and this is still a
problem in it.
I even tried printing to a PDF file (using a PDF printer driver) and the
resulting file was blank, despite the address and return address appearing
fine on the display. Once I turned off the Clockwise rotation setting,
printing worked fine (I am fortunate to have a printer that wants the
envelope to be in the center - this would be a problem if it wanted to print
on a specific edge).
I couldn't find another place to report the defect.

The various bugs with envelope printing have been around for quite a while.
They seem to be caused by more than one item.
Perhaps one of the bigger problems has to do with what "calls" printer
drivers use.
Many have a lot of old code that has been marginally changed when they were
"updated" for compatability.
Others went through compatability testing that just touched on all the
possible options and uses.
I'm also sure that there are some system level problems between the Apps
with older code, the system printing modules, and the printer drivers.

How does this happen!
Incomplete driver testing.
Driver development using obsolete tools.
Apps that don't fully adhere to "current" standards by using older methods
of communicating with the printer.
System modules that don't translate older "call" forms to current ones.

What used to get us was that various common apps in MS office behaved
differently with the same printer driver.

There seems to be know agreement between printer manufacturers regarding
anything. Even something as simple as tray naming or numbering not only
varies with manufacturer, but between printers from the same manufacturer.
It's a real nightmare on elm street for a developer.

Good grief! That's 'no' and not 'know'!
