Printing from PDF to ON once again

We have already discussed printing from pdf to ON
but I wonder how this can be done with Microsoft Office Document Image
Writer.
On the web page,
http://www.analogreality.com/OneNotePowerToys/OneNoteImageWriter.htm
it is indicated that:
_____________________
There are alternatives to importing document images into OneNote, including
the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer. These other methods are fine
except that they involve more user interaction and provide fewer options.
Although it is all speculation, I fully expect Microsoft to either
incorporate the MODI, or similar, virtual printer technology into a future
version of OneNote. This driver is provided as a stop-gap measure.

The author may be referring to the fact that the built-in "Insert
Document as Picture" feature in OneNote uses the MODI driver to "print"
into OneNote.

but the "insert Document as Picture" feature does not recognize ".mdi" file
format.
I tried and it did not work

Insert Document as Picture uses MODI to "print" Office Documents into
OneNote.

I'll concede that the push to have MODI as the new "scanned image type"
or whatever and then not have it supported as an available document to be
"printed" from in ON is an oversight.

If you do have some MDI documents which you'd like to "print" into
OneNote, the AnalogReality utility is the best bet.
