Windows Metafile graphics do not store fonts.
Mac Word converts WMF to PICT. There are some conversion issues. PICT uses
QuickDraw technology, WMF uses GDI. The two do not coincide perfectly.
When Word performs the conversion, it will use the closest font installed on
the Mac to obtain the outlines of the characters. If your WMF contains text
in a font that is not installed on your Mac, all hell will break loose.
The suggested work-around is to copy the Windows fonts to your Mac Font
Folder. Hopefully the fonts in question are TTF or OTF fonts. If they are,
they will work fine on the Mac in Word 2004.
You have not stated your Word version. If it's a version earlier than Word
2004, it may not successfully use Windows fonts. Most Windows fonts are
encoded in Unicode. Word 2004 handles Unicode correctly, earlier versions
support only a narrow range of characters.
Hope this helps
when I try to print a word for windows document on my powerbook g4,
the graphics fonts are all screwed up. Is there something about how
OS X converts windows medafile graphics on a mac that causes this
issue? Is there a workaround? Thanks.
