Printing Handouts and lines in 2007

I see a number of suggestions for printing handouts the size and format you
want (print to Word and How) but using these on my presentations results in
huge files (my seminars are four and five day sessions of around 300 slides.)
Those solutions just don't work as 75MB and more is ridiculous.

Why cannot PPT just allow you to format the Handout page similar to a Notes
master where you can move, resize and add lines etc? It would solve all our
troubles seems to me. Or am I missing something?

And with PPT 2007 it seems the perfect time to add this option.
thanks

The "Handout Master" feature doesn't do it for you? It's in View,
Master, Handout Master in PPT 2003.

No, it has no options for placing slides the size and placement you want, it
only provides 1, 2,3 up etc with no chance to modify that. I would like a 2
up with the slides to the left and lines for notes on the right for example.
Or 1 up like Notes with lines below each slide for attendee notes (I use this
now but that means I cannot use notes for myself or need to have 2 copies all
the time, one for me and one for printing for attendee copies.
Handout only gives you option for 3up like that which is too small a slide.
Allowing us to set up handouts just like Notes would be perfect seems to me.

Oh I see. I was trying to see if 2007 is any different, but it doesn't
seem to work correctly here. If it isn't different, then you are out of
luck. It is too late in the product cycle to introduce any major
changes. You'll have to wait and hope for PowerPoint 14 (MS is skipping
#13).
