Printing Hangs (Word 2002 under XP)

D

Doug Levitt

A colleague of mine create a very large word file (> 2MB)
containing multiple embedded images.

He is able to print it w/o problems.

However, whenever I try to print it (I am running Word
2002 under XP), my system hangs. I let the process run >
15 minutes before killing it. I also tried to extract the
file using Acrobat Distiller, but this all hung.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Doug

You might try disabling background printing (Print tab of Tools | Options).

That's not a particularly large Word file, but if it has very large images
in it, then it's better to link them rather than embed. Many images are
larger than what is necessary to render on a computer screen or at the
typical document print resolution.

Try reinstalling your printer driver or getting an updated driver from the
manufacturer's website.
