Printing in Black

For years, I have been able pre-set a black prining option, I don't
remember how I set it up, however, and cannot reinvent it. The software
defaults to color printing. But now my "black ink" option does not
prevent documents from printing in color. How do I solve this problem.
I cannot find any setting except under the options in the print
dialogue box to use grayscale. But this choice prints in gray, not
black. I have spoken to both Apple and HP, and it has been narrowed
down to a Microsoft Office problem. Also, I have 2 printers connected
to my G4 (OS10.2.8), and the problem is the same on both printers, so
it cannot be the printer software.

Hi CALF,

May I inquire as to what software it is that you are referring to? The
Manufacturer, software name, and version would be most helpful in
helping to solve this for you.

I'm not sure which software you mean. I'm using Office 2004 for Mac,
Mac OS 10.2.8, and the latest HP printer driver. Are these what you
mean?

Office 2004 for Mac, OS10.2.8, HP driver 6.3.4 (latest). Is this what
you mean?
Pardon me if this appears twice. I wasn't sure how to reply.

Hi again,

Yes, the information you provided is helpful, but just a little more is
needed. Are you trying to print a document that is in Word, Excel,
PowerPoint or one of the other Office 2004 programs? Does the document
contain any color pictures or graphs?
