Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: intel

I have an hp psc 1315 all-in-one printer, just upgraded to Office 2007 on my Mac, and under print options I cannot find how to print "Fast Draft" quality to save ink...does anybody know how?

That control is provided by the HP printer driver, not Word.

It appears in a dialog presented by Mac OS X, not Word.

1) Go to File>Print...

2) Change the third drop-down box to Paper Type/Quality

3) Drop down the Quality box...

Cheers

Word only determines *what* gets printed - *How* is determined by the
printer driver. Although the specific wording varies depending on the
driver, you should find what you need from the Copies & Pages list in the
Print dialog. With my Epson. For example, it's in the features listed as
Print Settings> Print Quality - Economy Mode, but your HP may be different.

BTW - Your user info indicates that you are using Office 2008, but your
message content indicates Office 2007 (which is a Windows version). It
doesn't make a big difference on this issue, but it is a bit confusing since
*both* can be run on a properly equipped Mac. If you are running 2007 in
Parallels, Boot Camp, VMWare Fusion, etc. it can matter a great deal.

Thanks to both responses. I think there may be an issue with this hp printer and Word 2008 (I have Office 2008 Student, sorry for the 2007 typo). There are no options under Paper Type/Quality that give me the option in this version (and it did in 2004 version). I have contacted hp, I'll try to post their response.

You may very well need a driver update. If so you'll probably get it faster
if you locate it on their support site & download it yourself - you may not
get a response from HP for some time & when you do that's probably all it
will tell you to do:) Hopefully you aren't in the "Bermuda Triangle" -
their are a few combinations of OS - Office - Printer that just plain don't
play nice right now (although that shouldn't be the case if you're still
running Tiger 10.4.11).

Thanks, yes, I hope that a driver update solves this problem. There is currently nothing up to date on their site so I wrote to them. I'll try to post what they say in their response.

The options are there in MY Office 2008 with MY Mac, that's how I was able
to tell you where to find them :)

Make sure you have actually run the HP All-In-One installer to actually
install the HP printer driver on your Mac.

If you haven't, the Mac OS printing subsystem (which is the thing that is
actually doing all the work) doesn't realise that the option "should" be
available for your printer, and thus it won't show it.

If you have run the installer, delete the printer driver and run it again.

Cheers

Hi, just so everybody knows, this reply from HP seemed to do the trick, thanks for all the input:

First you will need to uninstall the software you have then go to link below fro software :

Uninstalling the Macintosh Software Mac OS X

Open the hard drive volume (by default labeled Macintosh HD).

Double-click Applications > Hewlett-Packard > HP Uninstaller.

The Authenticate window appears. Type in your name and password.

Choose to uninstall all the hp device(s) software and click Uninstall .

When the Uninstaller is finished you will be instructed to empty the Trash .

Click Quit , disconnect the printer and restart your Mac.

(my comment, then reinstall this):
