Printing in Project

CP Helpdesk

Hi,

We have an issue with a client that is unable to print bars in charts. Print
preview doesn't display them and it is the same on two different PC's. We are
using project 2007, but if we save as previous version and load it into 2003
it prints ok using the same printers.

Any ideas ?

Hello CP Helpdesk,

For general misprinting issue, see FAQ # 44 "Printing Problems" at
http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm.

There have also been some reports about the 3D bars in Project 2007
causing plans to print very slowly. See if turning off the 3D display
helps. Go to Tools > Options, View tab.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie,

We have tried disabling the 3d view for the bars but still no joy. The thing
that does seem a little strange is that both the print preview and final
print wont display them. We have tried different drivers on the Pc to ensure
that it is not just that rendering it incorrectly but still the same issue.

Thanks

Hi Helpdesk,

Is there anything else in common with the 3 PCs this is occurring on?
Similar memory capacity etc?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie,

We have checked the spec's of the machines and they are both Dell PC's
running simillar processor speeds and 1GB RAM. Both computers are just
running Project 2007 when they get the issue. Other than that they both have
XP SP2. What we can't seem to understand is why when the file is downgraded
to 2003 it prints ok., has the rendering etc changed so much between the two
versions ?

Mark

Hi Mark,

I don't know what, if any, are differences in how Project renders
files for printing between 2007 and earlier versions other than to say
that there have been several reports of printing problems --
particularly to Adobe files -- in this newsgroup. In some cases,
turning off the 3D display seems to have helped -- sadly for you, no
luck.

I assume you have SP-1 installed for Project?
