Greetings:
I'm running WORD X for Mac, printing onto a HP Photosmart 1218 that
I've had for more than a year. This issue is especially confusing since it
just arose recently (within 3 months), and is not consistent.
For more thatn 10 years, I've been using WORD to do TV scripts. I have
my own template that uses 4-column tables. I've used this template
through various versions of WORD and on various printers over the
years with no problem. These scripts can be one page up to 60 pages.
Starting about three months ago, I noticed that when I try to print out
any script I've done in the last three years, it takes about 3 minutes per
page. It seems like the printer prints a couple of lines, and then stops
for up to 15 to 20 seconds, then a couple of more lines, and so on.
It even does this if I start a new multi column document from scratch. I
have NOT noticed this when printing any other kind of WORD doc or
any other kind of APP.
Now here's something strange. I found that if I take a script from 3
years ago, it prints fine. By carefully cutting and pasting, I can recreate
one of the current, troublesome scripts into the older script, and it
prints fine. But this is a major hassle.
I've searched these docs for hidden characters. I've simplified all the
fonts and styles, but it doesn't change the problem. I believe I have
current printer drivers and the current version of WORD. The scripts
that are causing me problems were printing fine three months ago.
Most of these scripts are for completed projects, and were just being
archived. They printed fine last time, and now they don't.
I've been "hacking" through these docs looking for whatever it is that is
causing the problem, but I'm really stymied.
Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
