Printing jumbled in shapes

I recently installed Visio 2003. Am using drawings from Visio 4.0 and when I go to print, the printing jumbles as if the printer is not recognizing the font type. The fonts are true type fonts, and I don't know where to go from here

Operating system is Microsoft 2000, printer is a toshiba e-studio45srs-pcl6uc which is a network printer

Have many building - event - diagrams that I won't have the time to re-draw.

are you having this problem with the "ariel" font displayed horizontaly but not vertically
I am. please post if you have found a solution.
