Printing master documents?

Seems that after expanding subdocuments in a master document and making
changes to text in page layout view I can no longer print pages of the
master document. The icon for the printer flashes briefly but nothing
happens; the file disappears from the printer's job window.

Any ideas how to get the master document printing again?
