Printing merged postcards in publisher 2003

I am trying to print post cards 4 up on 8.5x11 card stock with addresses
merged into the postcards. My problem is when printing it will not print in
consecutive order. For instance if I print 20 names using the print merged
from the file menu it starts printing at card #8 then prints to card #1.
Then starts at 16 and prints to 9. It does this to a printer or to a pdf
file. It is as if it is treating every 8 merged address as one document.
Please help

Look at the printing defaults for your printer in the Printer and Fax folder.
Some printers have a front to back or back to front setting.
What are you using as a database? Are you using the Mail Merge Wizard?

Can Publisher control the order in which the records are printed?

Yes. Publisher has a sorting feature that you can use to control the order in
which the records are printed. Publisher also has a filter that you can use to
print only records that meet certain criteria.

To sort or filter your address list, open the publication to which your address
list is attached, and then follow these steps:
1. If the Mail Merge task pane is not displayed, point to Mail Merge on the
Tools menu, and then click Mail Merge Wizard.
2. In Step 1 of 4, click Edit recipient list (under Use an existing list).
3. In the Mail Merge Recipients dialog box, follow the instructions at the top
of the dialog box. For example:
.. To sort the list, click the appropriate column heading.
.. To filter the recipients that are displayed by a specific criteria, such as by
city, click the arrow next to the column heading.
.. Click the check boxes or buttons to add or remove recipients from the mail
merge.
