I've been all over the apple support site and found no useful answers to this question so I'm turning here . . . where there always seems to be an answer.

I am running Leopard with all the latest updates. I have a Dell printer connected to netgear router via ethernet cable, same as my mac, same as my PC. I've been printing along happily and then without warning . . .

Attempting to connect to host ET00040003D56E.local. for printer

Network host 'ET00040003D56E.local.' is busy; will retry in 15 seconds...

I have rebooted everything. I have reinstalled the printer (bonjour, generic postscript) and simply cannot print. Between the time I was able to print and not print, there were no system updates, no changes. I can print from my PC. I'm not trying to print wirelessly. So basically it, whatever it is, took a powder.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Did you reboot the router? Does bonjour work with other devices?

Hey Bob

This morning I launched I-Tunes and was alerted to the opportunity to install 11 various updates. Upon doing that, everything worked.

To your question, what I know about Bonjour you can write on a post-it note. When I brough my Mac home in January, I plugged it into the router and mostly everything worked. As I said in my post, the printer worked just fine.

Having done some reading, I gather that Bonjour is worth doing something with. So as not to much up this thread, I won't ask any questions here.

But to be clear, yesterday I restarted everything : routers, computers, printers, everything. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the printer drivers. I reset the printing options. I reset the disk permissions on the MacBook Pro.
