Printing Problem with Office Documents

Hi,

I just got a weird printing problem and I hope someone can give me some
advice. I am using Office 2000/Windows XP Home.

I have been able to print any MS Word documents until yesterday.
Yesterday I tried to print a MS Excel document, the print came out but
the quality was very bad and could hardly read it. So I thought maybe I
need to change the ink cartridge. After I installed a new ink
cartridge, the same quality, bad. So I put back the old cartridge and
try to print other documents (PageMaker and pages from Internet), they
were all printed perfectly. Then I tried to print a MS Word document,
bad quality again.

Now I conclude that I can print any documents except MS Office's. Does
anyone has any idea what has gone wrong? As I have said before, I have
been able to print all MS Word documents until I tried to print a MS
Excel document. Then the problem appeared. I know it's not my printer
or the ink cartridge as everything else print perfectly.

Any suggestions/advice will be much appreciated. Thank you.

This isn't an Office issue, but a printer issue. Go to the manufacturer's web site
and look around for an updated driver.

If it's a driver issue, then why can I print PageMaker documents as
well as pages from Internet?

The only documents I couldn't print are MS documents (Word and Excel).L

Thank you.

Some Office documents are hard on printers and video drivers, especially
Outlook and Word. Take Mary's advice.

Hi Mary,

I followed your advice and reinstalled the driver, but my MS Office
documents are still not printed, neither Word nor Excel. Print quality
is very bad and could hardly read it. All other documents (PageMaker or
from Internet) came out perfectly.

So any other advice please?

You will need to assess what was changed. Perhaps you adjusted some
setting and the result is the issue you are seeing. Worked one day and
didn't the next, could be a "updated printer" driver issue. (roll back
to previous) Perhaps you selected "Draft printing" for the Office
applications? Please review what changes were made to the system.

Hi Bob I,

I didn't change any settings either for the printer or Office
applications. Everything is the same as before. I just want to make one
thing clear, the printing did come out only that the quality was very
bad and could hardly readable. So it's not that I couldn't use the
printer to print Office documents, only the quality of the printing is
the issue here.

Any comments/suggestions from anyone is much appreciated.
