Printing problem

Win 98se, office 2k.

This just started.
When I try to print a word doc, the icon in the task bar starts blinking
blue and nothing happens, locks-up.
I have to Alt,Ctrl,Delete to end Word program.
IF I create a new doc, it prints OK.
I tried it on several docs so I know it's not just one specific doc that's
causing this problem.
I haven't changed printers, (HP 722C), added no new programs, etc.etc.

Suggestions please,

Your printer is getting elderly...
That said, the driver could be corrupt and needs to be reinstalled.
Go here and read how to completely cleanup your driver before re-installing.

Is there an explanation why a "new" doc file will print OK?

Yes, the printers are getting old. We have 3 of them but they do what we
need them to.

My wife said that she was printing out several pages and decided to e-mail
same files/pages to 3-4 people when this started.

Clear your recently used documents. Right-click start, properties, Start Menu tab,
customize button, advanced tab, clear list.

Thanks for the help.
Tried the easiest process first, deleted printer/driver, reinstalled and
it's working fine.
