Printing problems

Stephen Fox

Using Office X (Word) and a new HP printer (Photosmart 7160). Can't get
it to print from a Word document when I list page sequence, and it
doesn't print a selection.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi Steve:

Make sure the pages you are listing are actually in the document! If you
have multiple sections with page number restarts, you may be specifying
pages that don't exist.

The "selection" is a bit more puzzling. It would normally print that with
the page numbers starting at "1" with the first page printed, but it would
print them.

What kind of document? What's in it? What Update Level have you applied to
Word? Is QuickTime updated on your computer (Word X relied on a part of
QuickTime to make up the print image...)

Cheers

John,

It's a book ms and the publisher doesn't want the pages numbered. So
that may be the problem. QuickTime is updated.

Hi Steve:

No, that's not it. Word maintains the page number field internally, whether
it appears in the document or not.

It's something else. Hidden text? Tracked changes?

What do you see in File>Print Preview? What you see there should print...

Cheers

No luck at HP. Link says no software in that language (English). No
clue how to navigate the site after that curt reply.

Taz,

Thanks for the help.

Somehow, I managed to find the drivers at HP and downloaded them
successfully to both my Macs. My wife's is hooked directly to the
printer, so completing the set up there was no problem. But I had to
switch the direct line to my computer before I could finish there. The
two computers are networked through a router, so, since hers is the one
with the line connection, that computer has to be on before I can print.
I haven't experimented with the problem I was having with printing
page numbers or a selection. Stay tuned....
