Printing tables - Gridline Issue

A

Andrew

I'm experiencing a strange issue when printing a table in
Access 97. The data and column headers print fine. But
the gridlines print at about ¼ scale in the upper left
quadrant of the paper. The table looks fine in print
preview. I'm running Office XP, Access 97 on Windows
XP. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can try two things:

1) change the report option to NOT use "fast laser" printing. That option is
found in the design mode of the report in the "other" option.

2) Try finding a updated or newer printer driver and installing that. Often,
older printer drivers work in windows xp, but they can be a source of
problems...look, or check with the printer manufacture for a new driver made
FOR xp.

It is kind of surprise that the "fast laser" printing option still exists to
day. However, access 97 came out when a standard pc was a p60, and had about
16, or 32 megs of ram if you were lucky. Windows 95 needed 8 megs ram, and
the magazines of the day said that 16 megs of ram was great! To day, the
average pc has at least 10 times that amount of ram. So, some of those
options like fast laser printing are not that valuable in today's world and
hark back to the good old days of computing when memory, and processing
speed where at a premium.

Fast laser printing simply means that ms-access tries to send characters to
the printer to draw the lines...if you turn it off, it uses graphics. So,
give that option a try. If it don't fix the problem..then you likely have to
try a different printer driver.
