Printing the columns

Craig Hale

Hello all,

I have a Gnatt chart that runs for two years. I'm
printing on tabloid paper (11 x 17). Since the duration
is so long. The system wants to print on 8 pages (4 x
2). I want to print on two sheets tall and compress the
bar chart as much as necessary to accomplish this. Is
this possible? How? If this is not possible, is it
possible to just print the Task, Duration, Start, Finish,
Predecessors, and Resource colums only, without the bar
chart? If so, how?

Thank you,
Craig Hale

Craig,

Sometimes it's a bit fiddly to get exactly what you want. There are a
number of things you can do ...

- Use the Format/Timescale to shrink or expand the timescale
- In Print Preview, use Page Setup to change the scaling (shrink or
expand), page orientation, etc.
- In Print Preview, use the view tab to specify how many columns displayed

Hello,

Thank you so much for your response. Shrinking the
timescale did help but did still net get me exactly what
I needed. My problem is, Project 2003 is making the
front columns so small you need a magnifying glass to
read them, literally. Can I not reduce the timescale and
leave the front columns larger? I'm still not seeing how
I can print just the front columns without printing the
timescale. I would think surely there is a way of doing
this seemingly simple task. Your help is appreciated.

Craig,

While you have the Gantt view open double click your left mouse on the
timescale bar (that's how I do it anyway or you could click Format/Timescale
from the options at the top) and you will be given the option to change the
timescale format. Change the "Major Scale" to Years and the "Minor Scale" to
months. You can then set how these will show up on the Gantt Chart i.e.. for
Months you can show January, Jan or J (there are many more you could choose
if you wanted). Try out different combinations of timescale as well as
reducing the size of the Scaling in the page set-up till you get what you
want.

Thank you. This information also helps. However, I
still would like to know, is it possible to print just
the columns on the left hand side without printing the
timescale with it?

Simple - just move the cursor over the divider between the columns and the
Gantt chart until you get a left/right arrow - click and drag right over to
the right edge of the screen. Reverse the process to bring the Gantt chart
back again

Thank you Mike. I realize this can be done with the
individual columns, however, I could not make it work
with the chart itself. I want to print ONLY the columns,
not the gnant chart.

Drag it the other way!

Thank you very much. That's what I was looking for in
the first place. I knew surely there was a way to
accomplish this.
