Printing to Heidelburg DI

We have Publisher 2000 and are receiving many requests to
print customer files on our Direct Imaging press.
However, the customer's images are embedded at a low
resolution and they appear low quality even on such an
powerful press. Is there something we should communicate
to our customers to educate them on how to save it for
this type of high-end printing? Thanks.

Good luck, friend... We took on the "punisher" Beast about 3 years ago and
any attempts at "educating" our clients mostly wound up frustrating them. we
now show them a printout from our proofer & have them sign off on it.

An inkjet-based proofer won't usually show the pixelization from low res
images, but these artifacts will show when screened and printed. How do you
resolve the difference between the proof and final piece in such cases?

Linking the pictures will always produce the desired results if the pictures
are of the correct resolution.

The major issue is people do not scan the pictures to the required finished
size at the time of scanning. They drag the handles and wham, goes the
quality.

we print it to the rip as a ps file then send that to the printer.. it
catches most of the glitches, but not all. i must state that we use dpm2340
abdick with printers rip software, so when it gets to the proofer its pretty
much wuswug.

good point, however we dont always have the luxury of telling the client
that is semi-literate that his work is afu and they have to do it again,
i've come close to pushing folks out the door with that one, however nicely
i put it.

sometimes it's better to "Midasize" (turn thier crap into gold) as much as
possible and even if i'm not impressed w/the finished resulst many times the
client is. i guess we are our worst critics, eh?
