Printing Track Changes...

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I have a document full of track changes. How do I print it so that it
doesn't squish all the way to the left leaving a wide margin on the
right?? I want to print the document so that it shows the track
changes but prints out like a normal document. I've looked through
preferences but couldn't find anything. PLEASE HELP!

THANKS!!

Dear [whoever],

It would be helpful to have details of your Mac operating system, the
version of Word and the view you are printing from. If the text is squished
to the left, what is on the right?

* BACK UP NOW: Just in case anyone is still reading down this far, here's a
question: if your settings files were corrupted right now, would you have an
up-to-date backup from which to retrieve your document settings and
customizations? It's best to back up your Normal template and all your Word
settings files on a medium other than the internal hard drive. If you also
want to protect against theft and fire, it's best store them in a different
building. More information is at

need to click the "Reload this page" button several times) and in "Bend Word
to your Will".

Thanks Clive

I have OS 10.3.6, and Office 2004. If I'm printing the "original"
view, it does not have this problem, however, the track changes
doesn't show up on the printout. if i have it at "Final showing
Markup", that's when the all the text is scaled down to the left side,
and blank on the right side.

thanks in advance for the help!

We have this problem as well. Also, of late, many documents crash word as
soon as you attempt to compare or accept changes made by a Windows user.

You have to turn off balloons in Preferences, Track Changes, first of all.
Then I just ran a test where if I went into Print Preview between turning
off balloons and printing, it came out fine. BUT if I *didn't* go into
Print Preview between turning off balloons and printing, it came out all
scrunched. My test in Office 2004 (11.1), OS 10.3.6.

So see if Print Preview-ing first helps.

I found that going into Preferences:Track Changes and turning off
Balloons, then ALSO going into Preferences:View and unchecking "Hidden
text" and "All" fixes this. However, it may also require toggling the
chosen printer in the Print Dialog box to snap it out of its previous
messed up mode. It is definitely some type of bug. Did not happen with
Word X.
