Printing word with emebedded excel tables

Currently we have a problem that when printint word 2000 sp-3 documents with
embedded excel tables either on a printer or into a pdf document. The content
of the excel tables in the printout is not consistent with what is displayed
on the screen. The content is showing an older status of the excel table.
Only opening and closing all excel tables by double clicking each table and
saving the document prior to printing seems to solve the problem.
The word documents are automatically generated from DOORS. Thus is quite a
lot of work updating the word documents.
Did somebody experience the same problem and knows the cause and solution?
