Printing Word X to Canon iR3200

David B. O'Donnell

One of my clients has a Canon iR 3200 color multifunction
printer/scanner. Whenever they print to it from Word v.X (latest
patches, running under Mac OS X 10.2.8), the jobs get sent in a format
that requires them to manually override the printer page size on the
printer. This does not happen with, e.g., Acrobat.

I've found that specifically selecting Page Setup in Word, followed by
changing "Format for" to the iR 3200, results in proper prints. The
settings don't get saved between Word sessions, however, and they are
getting mighty irritated. Canon has no online assistance for this
device, and the service company from which they are leasing the
printer barely understands that "Macs" aren't edible apples. I've
searched this and the Word newsgroup with no luck.

Does anyone have any suggestions I can try, before the masses revolt?

We have the same printer, and we, too have to change the Page Setup in Word
X for each document we create. However, once we save the document, the
setting is persistent until it's changed; thus, this is a one-time operation
for each document. I'm surprised that you have to re-apply this setting for
each new session of Word. We don't have that problem here...

You are saving the document after making the Page Setup change, correct?
(Sorry, have to ask...)
